Pre-Apprenticeship Training

Pre-Apprenticeship Training

A pre-apprenticeship is a great way of experiencing what it would be like in the trades industry. A pre-apprenticeship is a stepping stone which can provide a pathway into the industry of your choice.

At the Apprentice and Traineeship Company, we offer a Pre-Apprenticeship course in Electrical. Choosing a career path isn’t easy, but by completing a pre-apprenticeship course prior to securing an apprenticeship, you’ll gain an insight into what life as a trades person is like.

What are the benefits?

The benefits of doing a pre-apprenticeship are that you will fast-track some of the first year of your apprenticeship training. The nationally recognised qualification which is gained after completing the course, offers credit towards the first year of an apprenticeship. This course assists in improving literacy and numeracy skills as well as helping you be better prepared for the trades industry and be a stand-out job candidate.

Another advantage is that when you do a pre-apprenticeship course at The Apprentice and Traineeship Company Skills Centre we will help find you an employer willing to give you some exposure to the trade via work experience.

Work experience is an important part of the course for several reasons including the main one – you might get a job out of it. Employers considering putting on a new apprentice will often offer the work experience and consider it a way of taking a look at potential candidates. So you might be applying for a position without actually knowing.

Work experience has other benefits too. You are in a hands-on role in your chosen trade gaining real experience with qualified tradesmen. It helps you to be sure you’ve made a great choice by getting a genuine taste of what the trade is like. And in the very least, you’ll leave after your stay with some industry experience and maybe a reference for your resume.
